For a few weeks now I've been trying to get myself to the Centurian Knitting and to the Knit and Natter in the Cumberland Arms, which both take place on a Saturday. I really want to go, but one of the things that stops me is that I've either just arrived back from a week in Leicester the day before, or I'm just about to leave for a week in Leicester the day after. We're often busy during the week when I am in Newcastle and it seems wrong to miss out on the opportunity of having a day out together.
Anyway, yesterday we ended up doing nothing in particular and so I thought I'd pop along to the Cumberland in the afternoon and meet up with everyone. Admittedly I got there a little late (about 1.40pm) because I got a bit carried away with my lunch, but there was noone there. :(   In fact the only people in the pub were the bar staff. Not a knitter in site, which is pretty bad form since it was on the events leaflet. All was not totally lost because Graeme had walked with me to show me the way from the City Stadium (Ouseburn Park), so he stayed and we had a drink in the beer garden. Not much knitting got done though.
I freely admit this was all due to laziness on my part for not walking down to Centurian to meet people. This is just typical of how my life seems to have been for the past few years. Wanting to be in several places at once and missing out on one thing for another. Maybe that's just what being a grown up is like.
I think I'll try again another week and see if I can actually catch someone there. One good thing was that I've been meaning to visit the Cumberland Arms for a long time but never made before. I quite liked the place. I think I might try and go one evening to see what it's like with customers.

Sorry dude, the Cumberland group is a bit erratic, we're not sure who is organising it and a few times we have gone there from the Centurion and been the only people there. I was too knackered to go there this weekend but hopefully I'll be along there in two weeks time. Give us a call next time and see where we are....
